Feature

Tickets for evenings with a set number of seats.

A gift card has no date. A ticket has both a date and a limit: there are so many seats, and once they're gone, they're gone. Kuvert sells both from the same page, and the ticket is checked in at the door.

How it works

Three steps

  1. 01

    Create the event

Name, date and how many seats there are. Capacity is a limit, enforced by the system — not a note someone needs to remember.

  2. 02

    Guests buy tickets

Same payment as everything else: MobilePay or card. The ticket arrives by email with its own code.

  3. 03

    Check in at the door

The guest shows the code, you check it in. A ticket that's already been checked in can't be used again.

What happens to the evening?

Every seat is gone. The page has no ticket to sell, so it offers the only thing it has left.

There are no tickets to write about right now, so nothing is sent. The list simply waits.

What to know

Sold out means sold out
Once the event's capacity is reached, no more tickets can be bought. You don't need to sit around closing the sale manually once the last table is gone.
A ticket can only be used once
Check-in is a one-time action. So it doesn't matter if someone forwards the confirmation to a friend — the other person won't get in on the same ticket.
Cancellation is handled as a refund
If you need to cancel, refund the order from the dashboard. The money comes back through Stripe from the account the payment landed on.
Tickets and gift cards in the same accounts
Ticket sales sit side by side with gift card sales in your figures, so you can see what the events actually contributed.
The ticket can sit in the phone's wallet
The guest taps once on the ticket page and has the ticket in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Then there's no searching for an email in the queue, and the code can be shown even if the guest's own phone has no signal. The actual check-in happens from your screen and still needs your connection.
Sold out need not be a goodbye
If there are no tickets left, the guest can join the waiting list instead of leaving. When places come free, we write to as many people as there are places, in the order they signed up. The number is on the event's card — it is the figure that tells you whether the night should be run again.
The night’s own poster
Every event can carry a picture of its own. It stands at the top of the event’s page, beside the night in the shop’s list, on the ticket the guest holds up, in the mails that go out — and it is the picture that travels when the link is shared on Instagram or in a group chat. It is never cropped, so a portrait poster arrives whole wherever it goes.
A table is one ticket
A price can admit more than one person. «Booth for 6» is one document, six chairs and one QR code at the door — and the number sits on the PRICE, not on the evening, so the same Friday can sell both single tickets and whole tables. If the guest should say how many they are, you set the ceiling instead and they pick the number on the page.
A deposit you can drink
A table can come with an amount for the bar. The guest pays for the table and gets the amount back as a Kuvert gift card the same moment — with a bonus on top, if you like. The balance counts down on the guest’s own screen as the evening goes, and that is where a minimum spend becomes a figure everyone can see. It needs no POS integration: redemption already happens on Kuvert’s own screen standing beside the till.
Every Friday, until further notice
If you hold the same evening every week, you create it once and say which days it falls on. Kuvert opens the coming weeks by itself as drafts you can edit before they go on sale. Days you are closed — Christmas Eve, the holidays — you close on the series, so they are skipped. Evenings that already exist stay exactly as they are: a series only decides what opens next.
Sittings in the evening, and a ceiling on tables
An evening can have several sittings — 17.30, 19.00 and 21.00 — and each sitting can have both a number of places and a number of tables. The two are not the same: 55 chairs across 13 tables is full after 13 parties, however small they are. The page shows whichever figure runs out first. The sitting’s own time is also on the ticket in the phone’s wallet, so it surfaces before the guest’s hour — not before the evening’s.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can we sell several ticket types for the same event?

Yes. The same event can be sold at several prices — standard and VIP, or meat menu and vegetarian menu — and the guest enters a number for each, so it becomes one order and one payment. Each type can have its own number of seats and its own sales window; the event's capacity is still the total ceiling.

What if a guest doesn't show up?

The ticket sits as not checked in. The seat is sold, and you can see in the overview who showed up and who didn't.

Can a guest buy several tickets at once?

Yes. Each ticket gets its own code, so guests can be checked in individually even if they were bought in one order.

Do we need a scanner at the door?

There is a scanner, and you already have it: check-in happens from the dashboard on a phone or tablet, whose camera reads the ticket's QR code. No special hardware, and the code can always be entered by hand instead.

Can the guest save the ticket in the phone's wallet?

Yes — in both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. The buttons are on the ticket page, the guest taps once, and the ticket then lies in the phone with its QR code. The guest can show it without coverage; check-in from your side still requires connection.

What happens when an event is sold out?

The page says it is sold out and offers the guest a place on the waiting list. When places come free — a refund, a larger capacity, another ticket type — we write to as many people as there are places, in the order they signed up. No ticket is held back for anybody, and the email says so. You do not have to do anything; the list and the number are on the event.

Can we take table bookings without charging anything?

Yes. A price may be 0 kr., and then there is no payment on the way: the guest writes their email, gets the confirmation straight away, and the table is gone from the page. We do not charge a handling fee either when there is nothing to pay. The guest can cancel from the confirmation itself, and the place goes back on the page the same second — that is what separates a reservation book from a list of people who did not turn up. For an ordinary evening, where the guest picks their own time and gets a table, there is table booking.

Can a guest cancel a ticket we have taken money for?

No. Cancelling only applies to what cost nothing. A ticket you have charged for can only be refunded by you — otherwise cancelling would be a button that deletes the guest’s purchase without giving the money back. If a paid ticket is to go back, you do it as a refund from the dashboard.

Can a table come with an amount for the bar?

Yes. Put an amount on the price, and a bonus if you like. When the table is paid for, the amount is issued as an ordinary Kuvert gift card to whoever holds the ticket — «pay 2.000, drink for 2.200». The balance is drawn down on your own screen, like any other gift card, and the guest can see what is left on theirs. What is not spent is still the guest’s: the card lives for 36 months like every other. The amount itself cannot be larger than the price — the purchase would then be a gift card with a date on it, and gift cards carry 14 days of withdrawal that a ticket for a specific date does not. The bonus on top may carry the total higher.

Do we have to create the same Friday every week?

No. Make the evening once and say which weekdays it falls on, and Kuvert opens the coming weeks by itself. They arrive as drafts, so prices and line-up can be corrected before they go on sale, and days you are closed can be closed on the series. We have measured what not having it costs: one bar we looked at had 1.283 event pages for eight weekly formats, and 746 of them were cancelled.
