Feature
MobilePay, because that's how Danes pay.
A gift card for 500 kr. won't be bought if the buyer has to find their debit card first. That's why your gift card page takes MobilePay alongside ordinary payment cards — and on the phones and browsers that support it, card payment can be finished with Apple Pay or Google Pay. It all runs through Stripe Checkout on your own account.
How it works
Three steps
- 01
Connect your Stripe account
During onboarding you connect an existing Stripe account or create a new one along the way. Stripe handles verification and payouts.
- 02
Get MobilePay switched on
MobilePay is a capability on your Stripe account, and it needs to be switched on. We set that up with you during onboarding.
- 03
The customer chooses at payment
The last step is Stripe Checkout: MobilePay or card — and on an iPhone, a Mac with Safari, or in Chrome with a saved card, card payment can be finished with Apple Pay or Google Pay. The money lands on your account in the same moment.

Kuvert stands beside the route, not on it. The payment happens on your own Stripe account, we take only our fee from the individual sale, and at no point do we hold your money. That is also why selling gift cards does not make us require an e-money licence.
Three stops, and Kuvert stands beside them. Turn the direction around, and see that a refund goes back the very same way.
Which way does the money go?
The customer pays into your own Stripe account. Our fee comes off the individual sale, and the rest is yours.
Payment
The purchase is completed in Stripe Checkout. MobilePay and payment cards are the two methods we send to Stripe; Apple Pay and Google Pay sit on top of the card payment and appear on the devices that support them. Stripe is the payment provider, and the money lands in your own connected Stripe account.

What to know
- Apple Pay and Google Pay come with card payment
- We don't lock the payment page to a list: Stripe Checkout shows precisely the methods your own account has switched on — card and MobilePay, which we ask for during onboarding. Apple Pay and Google Pay are the shortcuts Stripe puts on top of card payment, when the buyer's device supports them — you don't need to switch anything extra on, and the buyer doesn't need to install anything. It's the payment itself that matters; the gift card is delivered by email as always.
- The money never passes through Kuvert
- Payment happens on your own connected Stripe account. Kuvert only takes its fee from the individual sale and never holds your money at any point. That's also why gift card sales don't trigger an e-money licence requirement for us.
- You don't wait for a monthly payout
- There's no middle accounting with Kuvert. Payout to your bank account is controlled by your Stripe account, not by us.
- Stripe's fees settle separately
- Stripe's own transaction fees are deducted on your Stripe account and aren't part of Kuvert's 2 % + VAT.
- Refunding goes the same way back
- If you refund an order, the money goes back through Stripe from the account the payment landed on.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is MobilePay switched on from the start?
MobilePay assumes the capability is switched on on your connected Stripe account. It's part of onboarding, and until it's in place, customers can pay with payment cards — including Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Can customers pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay?
Yes, when the device supports it. Card payment is switched on on your account, and Stripe shows Apple Pay on an iPhone or a Mac with Safari and Google Pay in Chrome with a saved card. It's recorded as card payment on your own Stripe account.
Do we need an agreement with MobilePay itself?
MobilePay is offered as a payment method through Stripe, so it's your Stripe account the capability sits on.
When does the money land on our account?
Payment lands on your own Stripe account at the moment of purchase. When Stripe pays out further to your bank account depends on your Stripe account — Kuvert isn't in the middle.
What does it cost?
Kuvert takes 2 % + VAT of each sale on your site. Stripe's own transaction fees come on top and settle straight on your Stripe account.
