The gift card has to work where you stand.

A gift card is only pleasant to receive if your staff can redeem it without switching screens in the middle of a payment. Kuvert isn't built into any till system yet — redemption happens next to the till, on a phone or a tablet, so you can accept gift cards from day one whatever till you have in the shop. We'd like to build the connection into the till itself, and we start the day someone writes to us with the name of the system. Below is only what works today — with a status on each one, so you can check rather than take our word for it.

Three ways in

You don't need to wait for anyone

Whatever till system you have, you can accept Kuvert gift cards from today. Two of the three ways work now. The way into the till itself doesn't exist yet — for any system — and it says so where it's described.

Next to the till
You redeem in Kuvert on a phone or a tablet. It doesn't touch the till, so there's no till system it has to fit with — it works from day one whatever you've got, and an integration that arrives later doesn't make it obsolete.

Inside the till
The till system asks Kuvert for the balance and draws the amount itself, so your staff stay on one screen. No such connection exists yet, for any till system — it takes something from both us and your supplier, and we're happy to build it. Write to us with the name of the system.

Through your own API
If you have a developer, you can build it yourself. Issue, look up, redeem and reverse with an API key from the dashboard, and get seven signed events sent to your own address.

Your system

We are happy to build for the system you use

We don't list till systems and hotel systems until they work — a list of systems we could build for says nothing about what you can use today. So ask instead: write to us with the name of your system, and we will take it up and come back with what it takes.

Write to us: hej@kuvert.dk. The name of the till system or hotel system is enough to start — please add who you have it through. There is no form and no case-handling system on the other end; it is an email to us.
We look into it: We read the vendor's documentation and say straight what is possible, and what it takes from whom — also when the answer is no. We have already read through several of the systems on the Danish market.
Your vendor has to come in: A connection into the till also takes something from the one who made the till — and they build for a named customer who asks far faster than for an enquiry from a provider they don't yet deal with. You get the prep work and text you can send on.
Meanwhile you sell gift cards: Neither of the two needs to be in place before you get started. Redemption next to the till works from day one, and the gift cards sit with Kuvert — so an integration that comes later does not change a single card already sold.

Payment

These aren't integrations you need to set up — they come with it. Kuvert handles payment through your own Stripe account, so MobilePay, cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are all covered by the same connection, and the money lands straight with you.

MobilePayReady: Included from day one. The customer sees your business name in the MobilePay app, because the sale runs on your own Stripe account.
Cards — Visa, MastercardReady: Same connection. There's no separate redemption agreement to sign, and no gateway to pay for on the side.
Apple Pay and Google PayReady: Switched on on the gift card page. The customer pays with what the phone already has, instead of typing a card number on a small screen.

Systems

Measurement and automation

What happens around sales: what you can measure, and what you can make happen automatically when a gift card is bought or used.

Google Tag ManagerReady: Your own container ID on the gift card page, so sales are measured in your own Google Analytics. The container is loaded only when the customer has agreed to statistics.
WebhooksReady: Ten events, signed, to your own address. They are the ones everything else on the list is built on top of — and you can use them directly without going through a middleman.
Your own APIReady: Issue, look up, redeem and reverse with an API key from the dashboard. The same API our own integrations use.
ZapierComing: Ten triggers and four actions. The triggers are webhooks, not polling, so your Zap runs the same second the card is used. The app is written and awaiting approval from Zapier.

6 of the systems on the list you can enable today. The rest stay as they are, because we'd rather tell you straight than let a logo suggest something else.

Ready: Works today. You set it up yourself, and there's nothing to wait for.
Coming: We have the system's technical documentation and can build it. It needs a key or an agreement with the vendor — usually something your own vendor can give you.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kuvert work with my till system?

You can use Kuvert with all of them, but not because we're built into them: we aren't built into any till system yet. Redemption happens in Kuvert on a phone or a tablet, and that works whatever till is standing next to it. An integration directly in the till would make it faster for your staff; it doesn't decide whether you can sell and redeem gift cards.

What does an integration cost?

Nothing on top. You pay the same rate on what you sell, wherever the card is redeemed — in Kuvert or in your webshop today, and in your till the day the connection there is built. Some suppliers charge for having an open API themselves — that's an agreement between you and them.

Can you build an integration for my system?

Yes, we'd very much like to. Write to us at hej@kuvert.dk with the name of the system, and we'll take it up and get back to you with what's needed. It goes considerably faster when you ask your vendor yourself: a till system vendor builds for a named customer who asks — less often for an enquiry from a provider they don't yet deal with. We do the groundwork and write the text you can pass on.

What happens if we change till system?

The gift cards come with you. They live with Kuvert, not in the till, so balances, expiry dates and history are the same the next day. That's also why an integration will never put the card's value into the till system, not even when the system offers it.

Can a gift card be redeemed in two places by mistake?

No. There's one balance, and it lives with Kuvert. Every way in asks the same place and draws from the same place — the screen next to the till and the API today, and a till integration the day there is one — so two tills can't arrive at different answers about the same card.
