Feature

The punch card, without paper and stamp.

Some things aren't counted in pounds, but in occasions: ten treatments, ten cups of coffee, twelve classes. You decide what one punch is worth, and how many are on the card — and whether customers can buy it on your site, or whether you issue it yourself at the till. Each punch is deducted individually when they come in.

01

How it works

Three steps

  1. 01

Set the punch value and number

You set the value of one punch and the number of punches — at least 2, at most 100. Ten punches at 100 kr. becomes a card worth 1.000 kr. If you want to give the tenth punch free, you set the price to 900 kr. for the same card.

  2. 02

Sell it on your site, or issue it yourself

If you put the punch card on your gift card page, the customer buys it like any other card, and it's a sale like any other — at the same rate. If you issue it yourself from the dashboard instead and take payment over the till or on invoice, no payment goes through us, and there's neither a Kuvert fee nor a Stripe fee on that transaction.

  3. 03

You deduct one punch at a time

The customer comes in, you look up the code and deduct a punch. The balance drops by exactly one punch value, and both you and the customer can see how many punches are left.

Ten punches on one card. Choose how far the customer has got, and punch one — the holes and the balance are the same number.

How far has the customer got?

Each punch is drawn on its own. The number left is not stored anywhere — it is the money on the card, divided by the price of one punch.

What to know

The punches sit on the card, not on a person
Whoever has the code can use a punch. A couple can therefore share a punch card for ten treatments without needing to keep track of who used what.
Under the bonnet it's a balance
A punch card is the same card as a gift card, counted differently: the balance is the punch value times the number of punches, and one punch is a redemption of one punch value. So history, remaining balance and validity work exactly the same way.
Same validity as a gift card
Punch cards are issued with at least 36 months' validity, the Danish legal requirement. You can set it longer when you issue the card, never shorter.
Staff can deduct punches without being able to do anything else
The «staff» role can redeem and deduct punches, but not issue cards, change prices or see the overall accounting figures.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can a punch card be used for several different services?

One punch has a fixed value, which you set yourself. If the card is used for something more expensive, you deduct the number of punches that match the amount, or take the difference as ordinary payment.

Can the customer see how many punches are left?

Yes. The card has its own page, showing the number of punches remaining and the full history of punches used.

Can the customer buy a punch card online like a gift card?

Yes. Create it as a fixed-price product, set the punch value and number of punches, and the customer buys it in the same four-step order as a gift card — the card arrives by email. If you'd rather sell it at the till, you issue it yourself from the dashboard instead. It's the same kind of card; the difference is only who takes the payment.

What does it cost to issue punch cards?

Nothing, when you issue them yourself: our fee is a share of what customers buy online from you, and a card you hand over at the till is no transaction for us. Issue as many as you need. If you sell the punch card on your own site instead, it's a sale like any other and costs the same rate.

What happens when the last punch is used?

The card sits with zero balance and can't be used again. The history stays, so you can see when each punch was deducted.
