Gift cards for stays, bought at two in the morning.
A stay is a gift people buy for milestone birthdays, weddings and anniversaries — rarely within your reception's opening hours. Your gift card site takes the order whilst reception sleeps, and the amount is in your hotel's account when you arrive.

Four situations you know
This is the day-to-day the card needs to survive — not a feature list.
- The gift is for a wedding on Saturday
- The buyer sits Thursday evening with a deadline. They choose the amount, write a message to the bride and groom and schedule delivery for Saturday morning. No posting, no risk of it not arriving.
- The card should cover more than the room
- The gift card is a balance, not a particular package. The recipient can use it towards the room, the restaurant or the spa — you deduct the amount wherever it's used.
- The amounts are high
- A stay easily costs a couple of thousand kroner. The card is not a piece of paper that can go missing during a move — it's a code with a balance, and you can send it again from the dashboard.
- The company buys for the whole department
- Issue the cards manually against an invoice from the dashboard. They're kept separate from consumer sales in your accounts, and you can issue them in one go without going through the payment flow.

What matters most for hotels
- Five languages on your site
- Danish, English, Norwegian, Swedish and German at no extra cost. The German guest buying a stay for their in-laws reads your site in German.
- Scheduled delivery
- The card lands on the day itself — not three weeks before, when the surprise is gone.
- Funds straight to the hotel
- Payment lands in your hotel's own Stripe account the moment it's bought. Kuvert only takes its fee and never holds the amount in between.
- Off-season campaigns
- Run «spend 2,000, get 2,400» in November to pull revenue into the quiet months.
- Roles for reception
- Reception redeems. Accounts has read access to the figures. Only the owner can change products and prices.
- Table booking for the restaurant
- If the hotel has a restaurant, guests book their table on your own page and get one that fits — free for up to 25 bookings a month.

Strandhotellet is our demo for hotels: a fictional business with a real Kuvert shop behind it. Their website, our button — and the shop is in test mode, so you can click around without a single krone being charged. The other four industries are nearby.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can we sell gift cards for a particular package rather than an amount?
You create the products you want to sell and name them yourself — «Stay for two with breakfast» can be sold at a fixed price. The card carries a balance, so the recipient can use it on the package or put it towards something else you offer.
How long is the card valid for?
At least 36 months, which is the Danish legal requirement. You can set validity longer on your own products, but never shorter.
Can the guest have a remaining balance paid out?
Yes — the customer has the right to have a remaining balance paid out in cash. Kuvert handles it as its own posting type with the statutory fee cap, so the payout can be distinguished from a normal redemption in your accounts.
Do we have to use a particular booking system?
No. If you have a booking system you are happy with, Kuvert sits alongside it: an event with a fixed number of places you sell as tickets, and the events can be fetched into your own system via webhooks and API keys. If you would rather keep it all in one place, Kuvert has its own table booking as an add-on — free for up to 25 bookings a month — and your bookings from resOS, DinnerBooking or easyTable can come with you.
